Where the "inconceivable" happens day after day

She stalks a stork

Hello!  I’m a thirty-something underachiever conceiver–I cannot “get”, become, or fall (what does this even mean?!) pregnant despite my efforts.  After hearing the following well-intentioned, albeit meaningless advice from someone I barely knew I decided to share my journey.

To conceive you must:

1)  RELAX and it will happen (No, but I’ve heard relaxing may help in achieving an orgasm).

2) Go on a vacation (Yes, nothing is more romantic than hauling around overpacked suitcases and regretting spending your last dollars which were really needed for IUI/IVF treatments while you sit on an airport freeway for hours on end).

3) Don’t TRY to get pregnant  (I guess nothing guarantees a pregnancy more than the immaculate conception route).

I hope to find others who are in or have been in my situation.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent far too many days pondering why pregnancy eludes me while everyone else on the planet along with their sister and cousin and long-lost relatives become pregnant at the drop of a hat.  I’m done with guilt, shame, regret, and depression and am ready to move forward with my life.  Writing is the best way I can make sense of it all.

  2. I love it when people tell you that it’ll happen when you stop trying. I feel like I’m dating again!

  3. There seems to be an overabundance of women who know other women who spent x amount of time trying and then once they stop trying they became pregnant. I’ve never actually met any of them… but I hear about them often.

  4. I saw a comment of yours on one of the other blogs, you did test after trigger just to see those two lines!! I just had to come find you, totally something I would do ….

Then I read this post number 1 and was cracking myself up. Way to go … so going to remember that one, the next person how dares to say that will get stork’s answer!

    I love your posts!!

  5. Hi! I nominated you for the 7×7 Link Award:

  6. I am glad I came across your blog. I am reaching 31, and everyone keeps telling me I have time, but the fact is, I had a miscarriage three and half yrs ago and my husband and I have been trying ever since. I have 5 brothers and sisters and between them, 12 nieces and nephews. I fear the wrost all the time and that is that I just won’t get pregnant. Thank you for sharing.

  7. I tagged you in a post so that I can learn more about you :) http://futurefords.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/11-questions/

  8. I just wanted to say thanks for creating the “WHERE TO GO ON A BAD DAY” and the “A FEATHER IN YOUR CAP–POSTS THAT MAKE ME SMILE” sections. I have laughed so much and truly appreciated them.
